CAST
The anchor and managing editor of "News Night," Will is a moderate Republican-one of the few he can find--whose success is largely the result of never offending anyone. He's in a lot of pain and that manifests itself in a gruff exterior when he's off camera. His world is turned upside down when Mackenzie re-enters his life.
A highly respected news producer who used to be romantically involved with Will, MacKenzie has returned from 26 months of reporting in Iraq and Afghanistan to executive produce "News Night," hoping to get him to realize his full potential--the last thing he wants to do.
The unapologetically old-school president of the news division, Charlie learned at the feet of the legends.
Following Mackenzie to join the "News Night" team as senior producer, Jim served with her in Iraq and Afghanistan, and she can't live without him. Though only 27, he's more like Charlie than he is his contemporaries. Jim saw "All The President's Men" as a kid and never looked back.
Maggie started as a "News Night" intern and quickly rose to associate producer. Her smarts equal her lack of experience and lack of confidence.
The former executive producer of "News Night," until he took over the show that follows it, Don often butts heads with Will, because they're a lot alike. He'd love to be on the same quixotic journey as everyone else, but is a realist who understands the business and knows he's always one ratings point away from being out of a job.
Neal writes Will's blog and scours the Internet for stories and leads others have missed. Just 21, he's a self-made newsman, having covered the London subway bombings with his camera phone.
The network's financial news reporter, Sloan could be earning much more money as an analyst at Goldman, but her calling is economic reporting.
