Hallo Leute,

Current Firefox versions keep a maximum number of visited page and do not have a time limit for the history. You can see the current value of this maximum as the value of the read-only pref places.history.expiration.transient_current_max_pages on the about:config page.
When it comes to Sync then things are different: Synced history expires in 60 days (2 months) and synced tabs expire in 7 days and have a maximum payload (20-28 kb: long URLs have effect).

Firefox uses the preference browser.history.maxStateObjectSize mainly to determine the size of the history cache. The value is optimized for the target computer. You can still experiment with it, for instance by reducing its size to see if it helps speed up the start of the browser or when you are working with it.
